I have been President & Principal Consultant of Fountain Associates since 1984. We concentrate on providing business & management consulting services which emphasize business strategy, strategic thinking, and human resources management, team building, and team development for businesses and organizations of all types and sizes.
I served on the Board of Directors of VyStar Credit Union of North Florida from 1982-2007, holding a viariety of Board positions, including Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee for many years, as well as Treasurer, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Human Resources Committee, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Retirement Committee, Ex-Officio Member of VyStar Title Agency, and Chairman of the Board of the VyStar Financial Group, LLC (VFG)--our credit union service organization (CUSO).
As Fountain Associates, we have helped many small and large credit unions, including providing training and educational services for the Credit Union Executives Society, CUNA, and other leading industry providers of credit union education and training services for the credit union world. I have been privileged to speak and conduct training at countless credit union conferences sponsored by credit union movement-industry leaders.
For nearly 30 years I have taught at the graduate level in both master's and doctoral programs. I taught for Florida Community College at Jacksonville, Jacksonville University, University of North Florida, Central Michigan University, Nova Southeastern University, Webster University, and Eckerd College of St. Petersburg, Florida. My area of expertise was a range of business courses such as Business Policy & Strategy, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, Organizational Theory, Marketing, Administrative Theory, Research Methods, International Business, Business & Social Responsibility, and Business Ethics. In my role as a faculty member, I served as a student and faculty mentor. I also chaired doctoral committees and provided guidance in thesis writing.
My educational background includes the study of psychology, human resource management, and business administration. I hold a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in psychology from the University of North Florida (1974), a Master's Degree (M.A.) from Pepperdine University in human resource management, and an earned Doctorate in Business Administration (D.B.A.) from Nova University (1985). Since 1996 I have pursued post-doctoral courses at Harvard Business School, University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and Wharton, taking courses in Creativity & Innovation, Business and Board Governance, and Business Strategic Competitiveness, respectively.
Over the years, I have increased my interests in writing both books of fiction and nonfiction, and even poetry--Rainbows From the Heart (2009). It all began as an avocation, but writing and being an author have now become more important in my life than ever. I suppose my writing could be called eclectic, because I draw from many sources of interest. As an example, in (2009) I wrote a nonfiction book titled How to Build a Southwestern House, which came about because I had a house constructed in southern Nevada and people need to know what to expect if they choose to build or have a house built in this region. There are many nuances and "surprises" about which homeowners should be apprised BEFORE they embark upon such a venture. Currently, I am writing a nonfiction novel, based on a true story, titled Clay County Country Boy.
In addition, to my personal expertise, my wife, Dr. Grace Mandicott Fountain, Executive Vice President, Fountain Associates, holds a PhD in health care management, has served as a Nurse Practitioner and Physician's Assistant for decades, so she is uniquely qualified to provide invaluable insight and assistance with matters pertaining to hospitals and medical facilities where team performance and patient satisfaction are crucial to providers of medical services. She has also served as a graduate professor and student advisor for Central Michigan University from 1999-2005.
When we find that a client requires assistance beyond our specific expertise, we engage Associates for that particular purpose. Our reason to be is to take care of the client's needs. We enjoy conducting corporate training, because training lies at the heart of client/customer/member satisfaction.
